ABOUT FINER COACHING
Welcome to Finer Coaching, your partner in personal growth and success. My name is Glenn Finer a fully qualified, ICF certified, accredited coach, NLP practitioner and level three counsellor. I live in West Sussex with my wife on the edge of the beautiful Ashdown forest. We have two daughters who we are very proud of. Our eldest daughter who lives and works as a Midwife in Hong Kong, and my youngest at University in Southhampton studying education. I have been a successful coach now for four years and my mission is to empower you to unlock your full potential, and live a fulfilling life. Through my tailored coaching approach, I can help you overcome obstacles, set meaningful goals, and develop the mindset for success. I am dedicated to supporting you every step of the way on your journey to greatness. The following are some of the successful ways I have helped clients with their goals.
As a coach and learning mentor in secondary school, I work with both teenagers and their parents to ease the friction that often comes with this stage of life. For teens, I provide a safe space to build confidence, manage stress, and develop skills like resilience, self-awareness, and better decision-making. For parents, I offer guidance in understanding and “decoding” the teenage brain—why teens may act impulsively, struggle with emotions, or push for independence—so they can respond with patience and perspective. By supporting both sides, I help families improve communication, reduce tension at home, and create an environment where teenagers feel understood while still being guided toward positive growth.
Weight loss through diet and exercise. Devising personalised plans for a sustainable healthy eating lifestyle with a tailored exercise regime that is both achievable, enjoyable and rewarding.
Help you to be empowered to return to work after an extended period of absence, either through maternity leave, sickness, redundancy etc. I work with you to find your confidence and make those inroads back to your career.
Overcoming shyness or fear of public speaking, either for work or your private life. Helping you find practical solutions to make that speech or give that presentation.

decode the Teenage Brain
Being the parent of a teenager can sometimes feel like living with a completely different species. Teens can act irrationally not because they want to make life harder, but because their brains are still under construction. The prefrontal cortex—the part responsible for decision-making, impulse control, and weighing consequences—isn’t fully developed until the mid-20s. Meanwhile, the limbic system, which drives emotions and reward-seeking, is in overdrive. That imbalance explains a lot.
Common Teenage Traits
-
Impulsivity – Teens often make snap decisions without thinking them through.
-
Mood swings – Hormonal changes and a developing brain can lead to rapid shifts between joy, anger, sadness, and excitement.
-
Risk-taking – Seeking thrills or testing limits is common, sometimes because their brains process rewards more intensely than adults.
-
Identity-seeking – They experiment with clothing, music, beliefs, and friend groups as they figure out who they are.
-
Sleep shifts – Their circadian rhythms naturally shift later, making them stay up late and struggle to wake up early.
-
Need for independence – Teens push against parental rules to establish autonomy, even when they still need guidance.
-
Peer influence – Friends often matter more than parents in decision-making, because social acceptance feels like survival.
-
Intense emotions – Situations that seem small to adults can feel monumental to teens.
